QC Community Come Together for indigo
Quincy College’s annual arts and literary exhibit
indigo brought together a good crowd and
mixture of students, faculty, staff, friends and
even a few curious employees from neighboring
company BT Conferencing! After months of
careful planning, all of the time and effort put
into the event really paid off.
This year, indigo took place at the
atrium in Newport Hall, a new location for the first
time in years. The space and ambiance at Newport
definitely made for a more comfortable atmosphere to
the rather large crowd that continued to pass
through the exhibit.
“The space at Newport Hall definitely worked in our
favor,” said Elise Sullivan, Assistant Director of
Marketing and Head of the indigo Committee. “There
was plenty of room for people to circulate around
the artwork better, as opposed to last year where
the venue was a bit more crowded."
Special guests at the event included a few members
of the Quincy College Board of Governors, Mark
Bertman and Peter Tsaffaras, Esq., and a few of the
student artists (with their proud families and
friends) whose works were on display.
“This was my first year submitting to indigo and I
wasn’t sure of the outcome of the event,” said
Corvette Jarumon, a first year student and talented
painter. “The turnout turned out to be really good.
It was a pretty good event.”
A
few classes that ended for the night came down to
the atrium to explore the exhibit (and partake in
some delectable treats prepared by Craig’s Café).
The
event resulted in a very nice evening of social
gathering and networking among the Quincy College
community.
“I
had heard a lot of good things from students,
faculty and staff about the exhibit,” said Sullivan,
“Next year I would like to extend the length of time
the exhibit is up, possibly starting in the early
afternoon and going until evening so that more
students will have a chance to see it and perhaps
feel inspired to submit something to indigo.”
