Third Annual Quincy College Health and Wellness Expo

Place
Quincy Center, Quincy, MA
The
goal of the annual expo is to promote physical and
mental health for people of all ages and
bring various community based organizations
together in order to collaborate on effective ways
to improve the health and wellness of Quincy residents.
Now in its third year, this
free community event continues to grow as hundreds
of South Shore residents are expected to attend the
expo.
According to Joe Bradley, Executive Director of College and Community
Development, “The health expo focuses on general wellness, and
will highlight health issues specific to the South
Shore Region.” Over
30 exhibitors, including Quincy College RN students,
are expected to be on hand with demonstrations, free
prizes, snacks, and plenty
of helpful tips. Representatives from the South Shore
YMCA will be offering free fitness consultations along
with body fat analysis.
Quincy Medical Center staff will be providing free
blood pressure screening. Bone density screening will
be available through the Norwell
Visiting Nurse Association.
Quincy College RN students will be presenting information on various
topics including diabetes, hypertension, skin cancer, prostate cancer,
AIDS, organ donation and child car seat safety to name just a few.
Other exhibitors include: Blue Hills Tobacco Free Community Coalition
Network, Quincy WIC Nutrition Program, South Bay Mental Health, DPH
Health Education & Outreach Program, Superfitness, Hospice of
the South Shore, Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous,
and the Quincy College Human Services Program.
