3rd Annual
Gamma Beta Phi Induction Ceremony
The
3rd Annual Induction Ceremony will be held at Bethany
Congregational Church (across the street from Coddington
Hall at Quincy College) on Thursday, November 9th,
2006, beginning at 6 p.m. Join President Sue Harris,
members of the Governing Board, and speakers from community-based
agencies such as Father Bill’s Place, as the
College celebrates the achievements of new Gammas.
Members will also receive personalized certificates,
lapel pins, and membership packets.

The Quincy College Senate includes representation from the various constituencies
of the College, including students. Both the Senate and its committees call
for student membership. These committees include:
- Academic Policies
and Procedures
- Curriculum
- Educational and Student
Services
- Program Review
Members of Senate Committees make recommendations on strategies for
improving academic programs and services, which are then considered
by members of the Senate.

Items needed include: paper products; cleaning supplies; food wrap;
dish towels, bath towels, female products, and prepaid calling cards.
Deliver items to bins in the following offices: College and Community
Development (Temple Hall); President’s Office (Saville Hall);
Advising Office (Coddington Hall); and Student Support Services (Saville
Hall).

Essay
Contest: National Alcohol and Addiction Recovery Month
"The Courage to Change"
In support of recovery and treatment, Quincy College
is announcing an essay contest. The essays must be entitled "The
Courage to Change" and must address the difficulties of recovery
and the rewards of living a clean and sober lifestyle. In the essay,
the writer might relate an experience with someone seeking to recover
from substance abuse. The essay may be straightforward of not only
the difficulties of recovery but the rewards also. What the writer
chooses to say is restricted only by their creativity, but all essays
should be concerned with the negative impact of substance abuse and
the avenues to recovery. Winners will be announced November 15th.
Eligibility: All Quincy College Students
Entry Date: Must submit essay between
September 15th and October 31st (closing date)
Prize: $500 SCHOLARSHIP
Format: Between 750 words and 1250
words (three to five pages), typed, double spaced. On the first page,
the applicant's name, the title of the essay, and the date submitted
in the upper right hand corner. 1" margins all around and no
type font larger than 12 point.

Location: The Atrium at President’s

Quincy Center, Quincy, MA
The event is expected to draw over 400 attendees and
30 or more exhibitors, including groups of graduating
RN students from Quincy College, non-profits, health-related
associations, health-service organizations, as well
as a few businesses. Awards will be given to “Outstanding
Exhibitors” as selected by their peers.
Quincy College RN students will be presenting information
on various topics including diabetes, hypertension,
skin cancer, prostate cancer, AIDS, organ donation
and child car seat safety to name just a few. Other
exhibitors include: Blue Hills Tobacco Free Community
Coalition Network, Quincy WIC Nutrition Program, South
Bay Mental Health, DPH Health Education & Outreach
Program, Superfitness, Hospice of the South Shore,
Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous, and the Quincy
College Human Services Program.
