Group Tutorial: Careers |
| This course will help students to study and communicate more effectively in service-oriented career programs in which communication with the public plays an important role. Through readings, role-playing, discussions, field trips, videos, and lectures, students will improve academic functioning and lay groundwork for professional competence in the communicative aspects of their chosen fields. Basic cultural, professional, and academic frameworks in business, law, criminal justice, allied health fields and more will be covered. 1 credit |

Introduction to Business |
| The role, growth, structure, and functional
organization of modern business in the U.S. economy is explored.
Comparative economic systems, sole proprietorships,
partnerships, corporations, and the management,
marketing, and financing of business organizations are
covered. Opportunities in the business field are
examined throughout the course. Students will be
expected to complete outside research as a course
requirement. Placement at ENG 101 level strongly

service and their significance in a service-driven
economy.

| This course provides an historical background and
discussion of theoretical foundations of international
business. Analysis of international institutions and
factors that influence commercial activities among
nations and the operation of firms is included.

Business Ethics |
| An introductory course in business ethics focusing
on
what business relationships are and ought to be with
the various constituencies in which business operates.
Through the use of case analysis, the student will
develop a means of arriving at decisions that he or
she can feel are “right,” “proper,” and “just.” Placement
at ENG 101 level strongly advised.

Business Management Internship |
| This course integrates the student's
classroom academic studies with actual experience in business
management. The student will work for at least one
hundred hours in an approved internship position
which may be arranged through the college or by the
student. Additional requirements for the course
include nine classroom hours and a ten-page paper. 3 credits
