QUINCY COLLEGE CHANGED MY LIFE


I came to Quincy College as a transfer student from the
University of New Orleans. Although born and raised in
Quincy, at the naïve age of eighteen I felt the need to
remove my “tree” from its “roots” and attend school out
of state. Long story, short: no family, superficial friendships,
and a campus containing 17, 000 students was not for me.
After I came home, carrying with me several thousand dollars
in student loans, another four years at school was just not
feasible. Quincy College was the affordable solution, yet
the lessons, resources and experiences I will be taking with
me upon graduation are worth their weight in gold.

Not only have I developed new friendships, but also
the instructor relationships I have formed would not have
been possible at a larger college. The Quincy College faculty
and administration are some of the most influential educators I
have known. I know that I will always be welcomed back to
Quincy College for the support and inspiration I may need.

From my first semester at Quincy College, I built the foundation
for my educational success. The College also became the support
beam for my growth as a woman. My instructors helped me evaluate my life and set goals for the future. It was after one semester with Professor Raymond in the Psychology Department that I changed my degree program to Psychology. Her guidance, like the support of so many people I have met at Quincy College, has helped me define who I am today.

Now with clear sense of the future I will be transferring to a
four year school in the Fall, but I am confident that at no matter
what stage of my education, be it six months from now to six
months to completing my dissertation, I will always be grateful
for the “stepping stone” that Quincy College provided me.
