QUINCY COLLEGE CHANGED MY LIFE

Since I was three years old I wanted to become a firefighter. Growing up watching my Dad, a member of the Quincy Fire Department, instilled in me the desire to help people and make a contribution to the community. To achieve this lifelong dream, I planned to enroll in a Fire Science program, and only one area institution met my needs- Quincy College.

Like many students, my experience in high school had left me without much motivation to pursue a college degree. But with my career goal in mind, along with the support and advice from my family, I decided to enroll at Quincy College in Fall 2004. Immediately, I felt a renewed enthusiasm to learn, and the flexible course schedules and small class sizes allowed me the freedom and one-on-one attention that I needed to succeed.

As a Quincy resident, the opportunity to interact with students from all over the world is exciting. I feel that I have grown through the exposure to other cultures, and I’m confident that these experiences will be beneficial when I am out protecting the community.
