Service Learning and Volunteerism
Service learning and volunteer activities at Quincy College are designed
to: facilitate the engagement of students and staff in
activities where some service or good work is performed; address or
meet a college or
community need; allow students to learn about how their
service makes a difference in themselves and in the lives of the service
recipients;
and/or connect service activities to academic learning.
For questions or more information regarding Service Learning and Volunteerism,
contact
the Office of College and Community Development at 617-984-1647.
Clothing Drives
In an effort to help those in need during the cold winter months, Quincy
College holds a clothing drive, known on campus as "Operation Cover Up." This
clothing drive encourages
employees at the College to donate warm jackets, sweaters, and vests. This
year, Quincy College delivered
more
than
150
coats
to
the
Saint
Francis
House
in Boston. Saint Francis House will distribute the articles
of clothing to those in need in the Greater Boston area.

Salvation Army
In the spirit of giving, members of Quincy College’s faculty and
staff give up their valuable time to help raise money for the Salvation Army’s
annual Holiday Kettle fundraising campaign. Many thanks are due to all those
who participate in the
collection activities and to those students who donate their money for this
great cause.
Quincy College also collects cans of non-perishable foods for donation to the
Salvation Army of Quincy.

Operation Interdependence
The Quincy College community, in an effort to demonstrate
its gratitude to our brave men and women fighting
for our freedom, has joined forces with the Tri-City
Council of the Navy League of the United States
to launch Operation Interdependence. This campaign
involves each member of our community to create
care packages each month, which are then sent to
a particular deployed unit stationed overseas.
These packages contain everyday items that we might
take for granted, but would bring the comforts
of home to our troops.

Since 1997, numerous colleges
and universities have joined the America Reads Challenge, a reading and
