William S. Grindlay
The
expertise in Finance and Accounting that Governor Grindlay brings
to the board has been instrumental in decision making since his appointment
to the Board in 2002. That year was significant for the Governor.
Having retired from a career in government service that spanned almost
thirty years, he found himself driven by his civic responsibilities.
He earned a certificate, and Associate’s Degree and a Bachelor’s
Degree from Bentley College and Northeastern University, respectively,
while he worked full time for the City of Quincy and the Norfolk County
District Attorney’s Office. Much like some Quincy College students,
Mr. Grindlay understood first hand the sacrifices some are forced
to make in order to better themselves. This sparked a course of action
to provide opportunity to area residents who did not have the educational
or financial faculties to attend other institutions. As a resident
of Quincy, he knew of Quincy College and heard testimony as to how
it changes lives. Dividing his time between his home and a residence
in Florida, Mr. Grindlay dedicated much of his newly found ‘free
time’ to the college. He serves soundly, as one of the Board’s
financial advisors while he continues lending his expertise to a self-run
tax preparation and small accounting business.
